Anywhere With a Croissant: Discovering the Best Bakeries Around the World

I grew up in France, and I’m always looking for French bread and croissants anywhere in the world. So, I will have an ongoing list of the best places in the world to have croissants and bread. There is no particular order.

1. Panea, Lima, Peru

I actually started writing this article while eating a pain au chocolat from this place. It’s not very crispy, but the chocolate is delicious and the taste, in general, is just amazing. And the baguette? I will just say that some French bakeries could learn a lot from this bakery in Peru.

2. Circle, San Marcos, Guatemala

San Marcos is one of the popular towns around Lake Atitlan. It’s actually one street full of little stores, each cuter than the other. Almost at the end, there is a bakery. When I was there, they had just opened and were not even finished with all the decoration. I had a pain au chocolat, and I will remember it for the rest of my life.

3. Le Fournil de Sébastien, Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Is this place completely overpriced? 100%. Are the croissants, pain au chocolat, baguettes, and everything else they have absolutely, insanely delicious? 100% as well. Fun fact: my first summer job when I was 16 was at this bakery. If I have one tip, it’s to never go to this place on a Saturday morning. The queue is longer than the ones for a Taylor Swift concert.

More to come.
